Welcome to Dominion

Our Mission and Vision
Our mission is to change lives through the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ; to demonstrate the love and power of Christ and to empower lives for successful Christian living.
To be a ministry fully equipped to advance the Kingdom of God through outreach, worship, fellowship, discipleship, and service.
History of Dominion COGIC
The name “Dominion” was birthed through a series entitled “In His Image”. What qualifies man to have dominion in the earth is that he was made in the image and likeness of God.
Having been raised to understand prophesy, little did Pastor Sellers know in November 2004, when he and his family moved to Greensboro, NC upon their arrival they would be greeted by Pastor Braxton Bowser’s prophesy that he would be called by his father, Pastor Clarence L. Sellers, Sr., to return home to assist him for one year. At the conclusion of that year, God would bless him with his own ministry.
February 2006, as was prophesied by Pastor Bowser, he received a call from his father to come home and assist him in the ministry at Mt. Tabor COGIC, Smithfield, VA. He and his family returned to assist his father, Pastor Clarence Sellers, Sr.
February 2007, one year to the month, God began to deal with him concerning starting his own church. Marlon, Pastor Sellers’ second son, bore witness to what God said to his spirit when he said “Daddy, the Lord is going to give you your own church.” The word was confirmed yet again while he was conducting noon day prayer at Mt. Tabor by Sis. Alice Johnson.
Because of a lack of finances and no facility, he delayed starting the new ministry. While attending the International AIM Convention in Louisville, KY, the Presiding Prelate Bishop Charles E. Blake gave his official address. Pastor Sellers was so inspired he told his wife “I am going home to start our new ministry.” She said, “When?” He responded, “in two weeks”.
Elder Domonick Watkins of Florida prophesied, in the same AIM Convention, “When you get home everything you need will be there.” Sure enough upon returning home he received an honorarium that he in turn used as an investment in the ministry. He began to vigorously advertise that he was starting a ministry. God, just as he promised, provided a location to hold Worship services and blessed him with a musician.
July 29, 2007, was the inaugural service of Dominion Church of God in Christ. The Holiday Inn Express (Chesapeake, VA) was the initial meeting place and 46 people attended. The doors of the church were officially opened for new members in September and the “Dominion 5” joined: Brother Herbert & Sister June Porter; Brother Quintonio & Sister Tia Cheeks; and Sister Katrina Wilkerson.
Elder Clarence Sellers, Jr. was installed as pastor by his Jurisdictional Prelate and grandfather, Bishop Samuel L. Green, Jr. Pastor Sellers’ District Superintendent and father Clarence Sellers, Sr. presided over the installation service held Saturday, March 1, 2008.
Growth for Dominion is inevitable and in November 2008 the ministry began holding Sunday services at Jolliff Middle School (Chesapeake, VA). The ministry has adopted Jolliff and Southwestern Elementary School providing gifts and meeting the various needs of students and staff through the Missions Ministry. Other active ministries include the Sons of Abraham (men’s ministry), the Daughters of Sarah (women’s ministry), Children’s Church, Evangelism Department, Follow Up Ministry, Hospitality Ministry, Audio/Visual Ministry, Outreach Ministry, and the School of Ministry... just to name a few.
Dominion is on a journey to be like Christ! The ministry embodies the saying “if you live Christ-like, you get Christ-like results.
